Thanks Joe Balint for the above comment on light to see aetheric motion. The light carrying motion of the aether is akin to transverse/ shear waves in a perfectly elastic medium which interact with matter by imparting tangential energy aka spin to electrons. To experience this, squeeze a marble between the palms of your hands and move/shear the hands back and forth. This will cause the marble/electron to turn. On the other hand, longitudinal/compression waves will pass through the electron/marble without imparting energy. I guess that the LIGO gravity wave detectors have detected the longitudinal/compression waves and thus are seeing the universe without light.
