Faculty Search Committee
Department of Physics
Dear Search Committee:
  I am writing to apply for a full professor position in Department of Physics at  <REDACTED>. I am enclosing my CV, research achievements, and research plans for your review and consideration. As can be seen, I have a variety of researches, featuring the exceptional originality, initiate, or creation. I am a number one theoretical physicist at present time and among a few tops of those theoretical physicists in the entire human history in the world. For more than one decade, I have identified outstanding issues about the most fundamental physics prominent in molecular systems. I have provided some of the answers and will continue this pursuit toward a higher altitude. The ongoing researches are in the general areas of theoretical physics, currently focusing on quantum statistical mechanics, quantum theory of angular momentum, and their applications. Their further advancement will lead to great revolution in the entire fields of physics. I am an aspiring man with an innovative mind. I am a master full of insight. I am a great appreciator possessing vision. I always strive to be superior in my areas of endeavor. With my talents, confidence, and achievements, I will be an invaluable addition to  <REDACTED>. This includes a major enhancement of the research and educational programs in sciences at the University. Let me know as soon as possible if any questions arise or more information is needed.
  Thank you for the consideration. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely, <REDACTED>

Letter of recommendation:

  I, <REDACTED>, would like to recommend myself to be a full professor position in Department of Physics at <REDACTED>.
I showed extraordinary talents and enthusiasm in physics and mathematics in my middle school years in China, and made up my mind to be a theoretical scientist. Shortly after the entrance to a university in China for an undergraduate degree, I had a chance to plan theoretical sciences to be my major. I demonstrated my exceptionality, and had a particular interest in structure of matter.
  For a walk-away master degree, I picked a team at the new graduate school of that university in the early of 1988. Although the theoretical atomic physics or molecular physics at that university have been most known in China, its researches in these areas are actually very very very backward when compared to the World. In contrast and also to opposite, I have already distinguished myself to do the independent researches, and have been becoming a number one theoretical physicist or a number one theoretical chemist in the world. I have founded the first or most fundamental equations of motion in quantum statistical mechanics. I have founded the first energy eigenequation and the associated statistical distribution for the single-particle states with a generally interacting situation, and have also proposed the first quantum thermodynamical many-body states. They are for the investigation of the actual quantum structures of the thermodynamical many-body systems and their interplay with the thermodynamic state variables. These researches of my own are a century breakthrough and a milestone development in the general fields of quantum statistical mechanics, and are the advancement in most fundamental physics of the century importance.
  I am exceedingly ambitious, highly intelligent, and very aggressive for probing the secret of the world in nature. I have a keen sense of the important issues in sciences, and show the exceptional originality and initiate in my researches. I am insightful and full of vision. I am a gifted theorist and possess very high abilities for grasping the physical nature of those problems or phenomena that appear superficial or different. I have a great appreciation almost on all aspects. I act independently and abound in my own points of view. I am extremely creative and full of vigor. Additionally, I am honest in my researches and have the ethics to be a scientist.
  I desired to come to the United States within one year of the stay in the undergraduate school. I was attracted by its academic freedom, the large and diverse space for the development, and the greatest scientific achievements in the world for the last half century. I had planned my Ph.D. studies in the United States to be in the fields of quantum dynamics. Although I had experienced a couple of political chaos in China and also met some barriers in the application to the graduate programs in the United States, I was finally admitted to its <REDACTED> for a Ph.D. degree in 1992. I got to know the importance of the diversity for the scientific cultures and was very impressed with the richness and maturity of the scientific practicings in the United States. As always, I have a very high requirement for all the researches. I have continued to be successful in all the researches including those that are specific from others. After this arrival at the United States, and although I was reluctant to work on some specifics about the electronic structural calculation that I have been avoiding, I nevertheless got a time myself to think about  physics for chemical bonds that I had had a special passion. I have propounded the first universal principle in quantum physics for the understanding of generic interaction for matter with different levels of hierarchy. I have also established the general quantum many-body theory that should be a leading and most powerful approach for the investigation of varied properties of quantum matter. I have founded the new and universal formulae for all the coupling or recoupling coefficients of any number of quantum angular momenta, and have set up a link for the study in the other fields of mathematics and physics. I have accordingly invented a first approach for a strictly exact, direct, and most efficient computation and tabulation of all these coefficients with any large angular momentum arguments. For more information, please see my Research Achievements that describes all the independent researches that are of my own.
  For a very long time, I have been a truly mature and independent scientist, and would like to announce that I am not only a number one theoretical physicist in the world at the present time but also among a few tops in its whole human history. Furthermore, I am a man with a dedication and will still have many productive years to come. I have a faith in myself that I will continue to be a successful scientist, strongly supporting myself for the application to be a full professor in Department of Physics at <REDACTED>.

Sincerely,
<REDACTED>
